Cancellation and refund policy
In plain English
All sales are final. Our products are instant digital downloads that can't be returned, and the Chai Round is a pay-what-you-want contribution, so we don't give refunds if you change your mind. Please check what's included and what you need before you buy, and ask us if you're unsure. If a product is broken or not as described, we fix or replace it, and if that doesn't work, we refund it. If it never arrives, or arrives later than our delivery policy promises, we refund it. EU and UK buyers keep the withdrawal right described in section 3.
1. All sales are final
Every paid product — the Writers' Room Kit, the Studio Course, the Studio Toolbox, Course + Toolbox, single tools and the team licence — and every Chai Round payment is sold as final. We don't give refunds for change of mind, including when you no longer need a product or haven't used it.
The reason is simple: the kit, the course, the toolbox, Course + Toolbox, single tools and the team licence are instant digital downloads. Once the files reach you they can't be returned, so a refund can't undo the sale. The Chai Round is different: it's a pay-what-you-want contribution to the episodes, and its thank-you, new episodes a day early by email, arrives with each new episode we publish.
Please check before you buy. Each product page and the pricing page say what's included, and what you need is: A Mac with Apple Silicon. Everything else is free — no paid subscriptions needed. Not sure something suits you? Ask us first.
Final sale never limits section 2 or section 3, or the price-error promise in our terms. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
2. When we always put it right
Under India's Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, we fix, replace or refund any product that is:
- defective, deficient or spurious. If a tool doesn't run on a platform we list as supported and we can't fix it, that counts as defective;
- not as described or advertised (on this website, at checkout or in our posts), or not as agreed with you;
- not delivered, or delivered later than our delivery policy promises (by email within 24 hours of payment at the latest).
We'll first offer a fix or a replacement, such as a corrected file or help getting a tool running; it's usually the fastest way to get you working. If we can't put it right within 10 business days of your report, or you'd prefer a refund where the law gives you that choice, you get a full refund. If the product never arrived, or arrived late, you can have a full refund straight away.
Lawyer/CA note (remove before launch): confirm whether the E-Commerce Rules 2020 let us offer a fix or replacement first for a defective or not-as-described product, whether 10 business days is reasonable, and whether "where the law gives you that choice" is accurate for Indian, EU and UK buyers. The short pre-purchase line on Pricing, Course, Tools and Home, and the FAQ and thank-you page, say "If something's broken or not as described and we can't fix it, we refund it": if a fix can't be required first, change them to "If something's broken or not as described, we fix, replace or refund it." Also confirm the "supported platform" test is precise enough: the What you need line names no minimum macOS version.
3. EU and UK buyers
If you live in the EU or the UK, the law normally gives you 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content supplied straight away, you lose that right only if, before the download starts, you expressly agree to immediate supply and acknowledge that you lose the right to withdraw, and we confirm this in your receipt.
Where the law allows, we ask for that agreement at checkout or before your download starts. If you weren't asked, or didn't agree, your right to withdraw still applies and we'll honour it. Section 2 applies either way.
The Chai Round isn't a download supplied at checkout, so the rule above doesn't apply to it: if you live in the EU or the UK, you can withdraw from a Chai Round payment within 14 days of paying.
Lawyer/CA note (remove before launch): this section is only true if the checkout actually captures that consent. Confirm that our Merchant of Record's checkout (Gumroad) asks EU and UK buyers to expressly agree to immediate supply and to acknowledge losing the withdrawal right (an unticked box or an equivalent step) before the download starts, and that the receipt repeats both (CRD Art 8(7)(b); for UK buyers, supply must not start without that consent, CCR reg 37). Also confirm that the model withdrawal form is available and that withdrawal refunds are paid within 14 days. If the checkout can't do this, rewrite this section to give EU and UK buyers the full withdrawal right, and change the places that repeat it with it: the FAQ answer for EU and UK buyers, terms section 6 and the payments box on the pricing page. Also set each product's refund-policy text at the checkout to match this page.
Lawyer/CA note (remove before launch): confirm how the Chai Round is classified (a tip, digital content supplied over time, or a service), whether and when the EU/UK withdrawal right ends for it, and how long its perk (new episodes a day early, by email) lasts. Then state that period on the pricing page and the home page (for example "for 12 months"), so "not delivered" can be measured.
4. How to report a problem
Email sudosukoon@gmail.com with your order ID (it's in your receipt) and a short description of what's wrong; a screenshot or the exact error message helps. We reply within 2 business days and work with you to fix it. If we can't fix it within 10 business days of your report, we tell you and refund it in full. Section 2 says when you can have a refund straight away.
5. How fast you're paid
When a refund is due under section 2 or section 3, or because of an obvious price error (terms, section 4):
- USD purchases are refunded through our Merchant of Record, Gumroad, to your original payment method. We start the refund within 5 business days of agreeing it's due, or within 14 days of your notice if you're withdrawing under section 3. Your bank may take a few days more to show it.
- INR purchases (once available) are refunded to your original payment method within 5–7 business days of our confirmation, which we send within 5 business days of agreeing a refund is due.
We never charge a fee for a refund.
6. Refunds by the payment platform
The Merchant of Record may itself refund a purchase on its own terms, for example to settle a dispute or prevent a chargeback, within the period those terms allow. That's its decision, not an offer from us. If you think a charge is wrong, please email us first: most problems are solved quickly that way.
7. What a refund means for your licence
A full refund, or a chargeback decided in your favour, ends the licence for that product: please delete your copies. Refunding an overcharge doesn't. Anything you created with the product before the refund stays yours.
8. Cancellation
Every product is a one-time payment that never renews, so there's nothing to cancel and no cancellation fee.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy or a problem with a purchase: sudosukoon@gmail.com. Complaints: email us with "Complaint" in the subject line (how complaints work); we acknowledge within 48 hours.
